this is a solo where i tried to emulate a sound someone had posted from the pod 2.x. for this take I used my $150 yamaha pacifica, bridge humbucker. the recording is mono (left pod xt channel) straight into pro tools (888|24), recorded over a pre-existing stereo mix.

my buddy ray asked me if i could do some heavy guitar for him. these recordings are double-tracked directly over the stereo mix he gave me, so it's not really mixed. sometimes you can hear the "synthy" samples he used sticking out around the edges.

guitar is $150 yamaha pacifica, bridge humbucker. this song is tuned to i think Bb... way too low for my 10's.

my buddy ray asked me if i could do some heavy guitar for him, more info above.

guitar is $150 yamaha pacifica, bridge humbucker. this song is tuned to C. pretty much at the limit of where you can tune with 10's. next time i'm gonna use heavier strings for a tuning this low.

a start on alex lifeson tone for the trees. this is using Line6 Mood amp model, 4x12 Brit 25s, analog chorus, and some unnecessary but fun stereo delay.

this is a sound i made a few weeks ago, then last night i was playing my pod xt and stumbled across it again. a very pretty sound, lots of blackface to it, but with that rich-sounding buddha character... a little delay and reverb enhances things. played with fingers, on the ever-popular $150 yamaha pacifica, neck single coil. i need to shield and rewire this guitar, it hums like a volkswagen beetle!

another nice clean sound. this one has a sort of bill frissell "pop" to it. i've been playing with my fingers a lot lately, so that could have something to do with it. these sounds use the xt doubleverb and small tweed models, with some nice reverb and stereo delay. the first 40+ seconds are the neck pickup on my ibanez s540, then from 0:44 on it's the bridge pickup on the same guitar.
jcm800 2.49 MB

manual settings:

amp jcm 800
cab 4x12 V30 and 4x12 Brit 25s

drive: 8
bass: 10
mid: 6
treble: 5.5
presence: 2
channel volume: 10
reverb: none

stomp: screamer
drive: 10%
gain: 70 (rhythm), 100 (lead)
tone: 15%

cab: 4x12 V30 (left ryhthm)
4x12 Green 25 (right rhythm, lead)
room: 20%

decided to give the jcm a spin. onlt difference between the three sounds I used: for the two rhythm sounds, one uses the 4x12 V30 cab and one uses the 4x12 Green 25's cab. the lead sound uses the 4x12 Green 25 cab and i turned the gain on the screamer stomp up to 100 (from 70).
LeadDrivebreaker (4x12 V30s) 1.01 MB (0:52) no settings yet

finally got around to testing out some real pedals with my podxt. got some really pleasant results with my Sobbat DriveBreaker I... basically a souped-up handmade japanese tubescreamer... same chip, but a lot more distortion, as well as better clean boost capabilities and separate bass and treble controls.

for this sound, i used the highway 100 amp, and recorded with three separate cabs... the 4x12 v30, 4x12 green 25, and 1x12 blackface. ibanez 540, bridge humbucker. i'll post settings later, but they won't do you much good without the pedal... pedal settings are:
drive 4 o'clock
treble 11 o'clock
bass 1 o'clock
drive 10 o'clock

LeadDrivebreaker (4x12 Green25s) 1.32 MB (1:08)   as above, with 4x12 green 25s cab
LeadDrivebreaker (1x12 Blackface) 1.22 MB (1:04)   as above, with 1x12 blackface cab
